Russia's biggest carmaker plans to make a high-tech version of the Soviet-era Lada car that will be named after the creator of the Kalashnikov assault rifle, the Vedomosti business daily said.

俄羅斯最大汽車製造商計畫生產蘇聯時期國產車「拉達」的高科技版，並以卡拉希尼可夫突擊步槍（AK47型步槍）發明人來命名，商業日報《紀事報》說。

"We will probably work... to create a military jeep," said the head of arms trader Rosoboronexport, Sergei Chemezov, quoted by the paper.

「我們可能努力…創造一種軍用吉普車，」該報引述軍火商「俄羅斯防衛出口公司」董事長塞爾蓋．切梅佐夫的話說。

"Then we will call it 'Kalashnikov'," the paper quoted Chemezov as telling Mikhail Kalashnikov, the 86-year-old designer of the popular gun.

Rosoboronexport owns a controlling stake in Avtovaz, the manufacturer of the Lada family car that was built in Soviet times and remains popular here.

The car would be an armoured version of the Soviet-era Lada and would be equipped with night vision equipment, Vedomosti quoted a source close to the Kremlin as saying.
