A Frenchman who kept his parents' bodies in deepfreeze caskets for years in hope of one day bringing them back to life, said he had finally cremated them after the freezer system broke down.

一名將父母遺體保存在冰凍棺木多年，希望有朝一日能讓他們起死回生的法國男子說，在冷藏系統故障後，他終將遺體火化。

Remy Martinot had been fighting a legal battle to keep his parents' corpses frozen, in line with the wishes of his father, Raymond Martinot, a doctor and fan of cryogenic theory.

為了遵循父親雷孟德．馬諦諾的心願，雷米．馬諦諾還曾為了冰存雙親遺體大打官司，雷孟德．馬諦諾是一名醫師，也是超低溫理論迷。

The bodies were kept cooled to minus 65 degree Celsius in the cellar of Martinot's chateau. "We realised in February that the temperature had risen to around minus 20 degrees after a technical incident. From that point onwards, I decided that it was no longer reasonable to carry on," he said. Their bodies were cremated on March 3.

存放在馬諦諾別墅地窖內的遺體，維持於攝氏零下65度的溫度。他說︰「2月間，我們在一次機件事故後了解到，溫度上升到約攝氏零下20度，從那時起，我認定繼續下去已無意義。」他們的遺體在3月3日火化。

Martinot's father had kept his wife Monique's body frozen since she died in 1984 at the age of 49, and showed off her crypt to visiting tourists for a fee to help pay for upkeep of the equipment.

馬諦諾之父在妻子莫妮卡於1984年以49歲之齡去世以來，便冰存其妻遺體，而且收費展示她所在的地窖給到訪的觀光客，以協助支付設備的維修費用。

Following his father's death in 2002, Martinot filed a legal request to keep both corpses on ice, but in January France's highest administrative court ordered him to either bury or cremate his parents. Martinot had planned to take his case before the European Court of Human Rights.

繼父親於2002年逝世後，馬諦諾提出冰存雙親遺體的法律要求，但1月間，法國最高行政法院下令他掩埋或火化父母遺體。馬諦諾曾計畫把他的案子告上歐洲人權法庭。
