Bulgaria, which joins the European Union next month, passed a law last week to open up its Cold War files and unmask members of its communist-era secret services.

下個月將加入歐洲聯盟的保加利亞，上週通過法律，將公開其冷戰時期的檔案與揭露共黨時代特務機關成員的身分。

All but two of the 113 deputies present in the 240-seat parliament approved the law, which will set up a nine-member commission chosen by parliament to oversee the opening of the files.

在240席的國會有113名議員出席，除2人外，其餘皆批准這項法律，該法將設立一個由國會挑選的9人委員會，負責監督檔案的公開。

Under the law, which will take effect once it is published in the state gazette, Bulgarians will have the right to see documents written about them by communist agents and informants.

根據這項俟國家公報公佈即告生效的法律，保加利亞人將有權一睹由共黨特務與線民所撰寫有關他們的文件。

The commission will also investigate elected politicians, senior public servants, diplomats, judges, prosecutors, police, soldiers, journalists, and other leading public figures and post the names of those discovered to be agents on the Internet.

該委員會也將調查民選政治人物、高階公務員、外交官、法官、檢察官、警察、軍人、記者和其他重要公眾人物，並在網路上公佈那些被發現當過特務者的姓名。
