Prime Minister Tony Blair swapped his political cares for sporting hopes when he took time out from running the country to join soccer pundits on a live television sports show.
Blair told BBC TVs Football Focus programme he liked to relax by watching soccer matches on television but said it was years since he had attended a live game.
"Whenever I go to a game I'm usually sat in the directors' box and someone is talking to me about politics, and I really want to watch the match," he said.
Blair, a keen Newcastle United fan, talked up England's prospects for soccer's World Cup next year. "There's no doubt they can win it, they are capable of it. I think we've got a very strong team and they've got to have confidence."
