It's become the burning issue of Britain's national election campaign. Where did Prime Minister Tony Blair get his suntan?
Britain's tabloid newspapers published pictures of Blair's bronzed face and questioned whether the leader had used fake tanning lotion. “Where did he get that glow?” asked the Daily Express. The newspaper published side-by-side photos of a rather pasty Blair with the swarthier image snapped during a Labour Party news conference. “Tanny Blair,” quipped the Daily Star. “So is it out of a bottle, PM?”
Blair countered, telling a radio station that his healthy tan was thanks to working in his garden over the weekend. Was it down to a bronzing lotion, the interviewer asked. “No, it's not,” Blair replied. “It was really sunny down in London. What I often do is I sit out and work outside if it's sunny.”
